F1 23 Game Size – Space Required (PlayStation/Xbox/PC Covered)

The F1 23 video game was eagerly anticipated and thankfully is widely seen as massive improvement on it’s predecessor F1 22. But as with all modern video games, they can take up quite a lot of storage on console and PC hard drives with the advanced features, game modes and graphics requirements.

How much space does F1 23 actually take up when fully downloaded and installed? What size is the actual full game?

F1 23 requires 45 GB space minimum for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and 80 GB minimum for PC. It’s also advised to leave an extra 35-40 GB of space free for patches/updates during the game’s life cycle.

Let’s give some bottom line final storage requirements:

  • PlayStation/XBox consoles – 85 GB (45 GB for core game and 40 GB for updates)
  • PC – 135 GB (80 GB for core game and 50 GB for updates)

But there are still some moving parts to take into account, such as patches and different game versions, so let’s drill into the issue in a bit more detail.

Leaving Extra Space For Patches/Updates

But the core game file size isn’t the end of the story, because there are ALWAYS numerous patches/updates during the life cycle of these F1 games (sometimes more than 10), some of which are quite sizeable and require a lot more additional storage space on your device.

For example, as of the time of writing, on PlayStation we’re up to game version number 1.12, and all these extra patches have taken up around another 35 GB of space, as the game now takes up 80 GB on my PS4 hard drive.

And we’re probably not done with the patches yet, so I’d leave another 5 GB spare at least for any further updates, taking the total space required to around 85 GB for console and 135 GB for PC (I’ve added a little extra space for PC as these files always seem to take up more room than on console).

Therefore these latest F1 games do take up a sizeable amount, but still aren’t the largest games on the market in terms of required storage space. The good news is that for serial F1 gamers, it should be relatively easy and pain free to delete the annoying F1 22 game, which was a real disappointment to many, to free up space for the much better F1 23.
