How Many Players Can Play F1 23? (All Game Modes Covered)

F1 23 has been an eagerly awaited game in the Codemasters/EA F1 series, and it’s been generally well received as a big step up from it’s predecessor. But with all the different game modes offered, it can be confusing trying to figure out just how many of your friends you can play F1 23 with, both online and offline.

How many people can actually play F1 23 together, at the same time, racing against each other?

F1 23 supports between 1-20 players racing against each other, depending on the game mode. Standard offline career mode supports 1 player, there is an online Co-op career mode that supports 2 players, and online lobbies can support up to 20 competing human players

But there’s actually lots of different game modes, so let’s be more specific and break down exactly how many players can play each particular mode:

  • Standard Grand Prix mode – 1 player
  • Standard/My Team career – 1 player
  • Online multiplayer lobby – up to 22 players (including 2 spectators)
  • Offline Split Screen multiplayer – 2 players
  • Offline LAN game – up to 20 players
  • Co-op career mode (online) – 2 players
  • Braking Point mode – 1 player
  • F1 World – 1 player

It’s the multiplayer modes that are probably most commonly being wondered about here, so let’s clarify a few points about this:

  • Online multiplayer lobby – Supports up to 20 players actually racing, and up to 2 spectators as well for leagues/commentary etc.
  • Offline LAN game – technically has the same upper limit as online, but realistically when you’re connecting your console up physically in the same room (LAN party), the realistic max is going to be 2-6 players.
  • Online Co-op Career – A nice added feature that converts what would normally be a single player career into a two player career, where you both drive for the same team or different teams, and progress through the career mode together. Can be done with 2 players.
